The Communications Network Server (CNS 6) Series consists ofprogrammable communications servers that provide centralized wide-areacommunications for workstations and servers connected by an Ethernet LAN.As dedicated communications servers on the LAN, CNS 6 Series serversimprove client performance by off-loading compute-intensivecommunications processing, and reduce costs by providing sharablecommunications resources.Based on a 68010 or 68020 microprocessor, the CNS Series offers eightserial ports, and up to 8 MB of memory. The LAN client-server transportused by the CNS is TCP/IP.CNS 6 Series communications servers support numerous side areacommunications protocols including Financial Market Protocols,Bisynchronous 3270, and Bisynchronous 2780/3780.
